Other biking news.
I suffered a minor breakdown on my ride home from work a week last Friday. I broke the cable for the forward derailer. I was able to find a replacement cable the following Saturday but was not able to do the work until Sunday- During the repair I struggled with the stop screw for the derailer. The head is just too stripped out to be able to adjust it. I was able to remove the screw but no one was open to sell me a replacement on Sunday. The closes shop is only open from 10-6 and I do not get home until 6:30. Finally made it to another bike shop on Thursday only to be told that I am unlikely to find something like the only I am trying to replace. Apparently they are quite specific to the model of derailer and mine is almost 20 years old. Two solutions present itself - first is to find a source for very fine thread metric screws. The other is to just replace the whole derailer. I hope to take the bike into the shop tonight to get some quotes - then it is decision time.

Good to see you are back on the bike for work commute! Sorry to read about the bike challenges, but I like seeing your thought processes to solve the thread needed. New bike time? Katy Trail is awesome for a trip--done it several times going west to east and camping.
Also congrats on upcoming grandfatherhood!
